something that's beautiful about this little blog is all the things that have been documented on it, beginning all the way back on christmas day of 2010 (!!!) after my cousin emily told me about tumblr and i decided i wanted one, too. little did i know i'd start to share more and more of my life and less of random pictures from somebody else, and then move over to weebly and even create my own domain name! that's almost seven years of processing and sharing.. through all of my college years and through life right after when i didn't know what the heck i was doing and was mildly depressed, to documenting weddings, bridal showers, favorite songs, christmases & thanksgivings & easters & valentines, trips, making lists of all the things i loved right then, creating videos, it's all been really something extraordinary. and now in a pause-worthy moment, i'm announcing that my sister paige is engaged to a really good man. it seems a new category is emerging.. one of growth and more beauty than before. i am gaining a brother.. the best one i could've hoped for.. our family is growing, my sister will become a hackett, become a wife.. this is the big kid stuff, folks. our family is shifting and we're welcoming someone we all are really fond of. this weekend has been beautiful, honestly resembling the kingdom of heaven in little ways to me. i saw it in the start of two families coming together on saturday night, and particularly when my dad raised a toast around a group of about 35 of us, a toast to our delight in paige and dave, to how proud we are of them, how much we support them and will be on their team, and how thankful we are to God for them and for their love and the ways they serve each other. it made me so proud. this is one of many, many tangible pictures of redemption and wholeness and light on earth i've experienced. and it's only just begun! thank you, sweet Jesus.
"aslan, aslan. dear aslan,” sobbed lucy. “at last.”
