rejoice! rejoice! Emmanuel shall come to thee, o israel.
o come, Thou Rod of Jesse, free Thine own from satan's tyranny
from depths of hell Thy people save
and give them victory over the grave.
oh!
today was the very first snowfall of the year in MN. the snow seemed to leave just as quickly as it came, but when it fell it was magical, and i was in the most ideal place: in the car with dad for an hour-long car ride to cambridge where i'd be helping him with his work at the high school there. anyway, it absolutely took my breath away. so picture this: they were all country roads we were driving on, and it's like we were blasted into a swirly-white snowglobe world, with long brown fields and old barns dusted with powdered sugar. i couldn't believe how beautiful. mix michael buble's voice in there and a christmas song snuck into the mix here and there and what? are we in a christmas movie? (dad's so good to me... i just started to let myself listen to christmas music a bit, but he's always been firm about the not-til-thanksgiving rule. but he tolerated a few.) it was so hard for me not to take a picture you guys, but i was driving, and also had to be like, "i can enjoy this and remember it and keep it just for this moment right now and i don't have to document it" to myself a few times. oh, alexi. but anyway, here's a song from the day. one so incredibly wonderful and worshipful... i hope you enjoy it and reflect on it, too. what an overlooked lyric: rejoice! rejoice! Emmanuel shall come to thee, o israel. o come, Thou Rod of Jesse, free Thine own from satan's tyranny from depths of hell Thy people save and give them victory over the grave. oh!
