buddy the elf.

12/19/2017

"i'm sorry i ruined your lives and crammed eleven cookies in the vcr."

oh holy night

12/19/2017

long lay the world in sin and error pining
till He appeared and the soul felt its worth
a thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices
for yonder breaks a new glorious morn!

"captain," hillsong united.

"Jesus, my captain, my soul's trusted Lord
all my allegiance is rightfully Yours."

"be intentional with your time.  if you're going to grow with God, you have to choose to set the priorities.  you're never just going to drift into godliness or maturity, it's just too much against the flow, it's too much of an uphill battle seige.  you've got to choose to grow in godliness.  you want to grow with God?  great, how much are you diving into the word of God?  how serious is your community or your accountability?  are you memorizing scripture?  are you growing in your abilities?  are you working to grow in your abilities to teach or share Christ?  make God's priorities the first and most important part of your day."

j.d. greear on ephesians 5:8-21

"...you know how hard it is to get up from a good sleep?  getting up is difficult.  paul said it is so easy, spiritually, to slumber in the sleep of complacency because you're living in a world that's like a grave..
hey, i'll just relax, no need to study God's word today.. snooze,
no need to volunteer in ministry, i just feel like watching TV and being alone.. snooze,
no need to have that difficult conversation.. snooze..
paul says, 'GET UP!'  time is short, when life is war, you don't sleep, you have to get up and you have to fight...
the christian life is struggle, and if we're going to make it, we have to declare absolute war on the gravitational pull of the world, a world that is sleeping, a world that is dark, and a world that is in the grave."

john 21:7

"then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to peter, "it is the Lord!"
as soon as simon peter heard him say, "it is the Lord," he wrapped his outer garment around him (for he had taken it off) and jumped into the water."

...i actually cried when i read this ha.

[**context: this takes place after Jesus had died on the
cross and risen; the second or third time he appeared
to his disciples.  they were in a boat and john
(self-proclaimed "the disciple whom Jesus loved")
saw Jesus on the shore]

angela: hey.
dwight: hey monkey.
angela: any problems?
dwight: well you left the tv on, and your cat is dead.
angela: what!?
dwight: sparkles, the white one, is dead.
angela: sprinkles.
dwight: that was the sick one, right?
angela: uh-huh.  but i thought she had more time.
dwight: no.
angela: did she look... when you saw her how was she looking?
dwight: really dead.  like just a dead cat.
...so... hey come on, don't be sad, just... okay... just, she's in a better place...

actually the place that she's in is the freezer, because of the odor.

"i wondered if that was why God hated sin, because of the destruction it caused.  for a moment i felt awe for a God who loved me enough to hate the things that hurt me without hating me for causing them."
jude 1:25
